This morning I want to share with us for the few minutes from the subject ,THE SOURCE OF OUR SUPPLY

The theme of Paul's letter tu the church Philippi is joy. The peculiar thing about this epistle is that even though it was written from a Roman prison cell, the apostle speaks more about joy and contentment than he does in any of his other letters to the churches of the ancient world.

Listen to what he says in chapter 4 verse 11, " . . . I have learned in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. It is certain that the apostle to the gentiles knew how to create a can do attitude in the midst of a can't do atmosphere.

Like the apostle Paul, there are some things we need to do in order to create a can do attitude in a can't do atmosphere. The first thing we need to do is stand In chapter .4:1, Paul says "Therefore my brethren dearly beloved and longed for my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord my dearly beloved."

We need to stand for the Lord, the 3 Hebrew boys, Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego, they refused to bow down, they stood their ground. They said, that our God is able to deliver, but if not, we will not bow down . . . we will stand our ground. We will in the midst of a can't do atmosphere will create a can do attitude.

David stood up for the Lord and he faced the giant and the giant was defeated why because David came in the name of the Lord.

We need to be like John the Baptist who stood for what was right. With God's help we can take a stand.

1st.Corinthian15:58, Paul says my beloved brethren be ye steadfast, unmovable always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

In order to create a can do attitude in a can't do atmosphere the next thing we need to know how do .is rejoice.

In chapter 4 verse 4 Paul says, Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice.

The psalmist puts it this way, psalm33: 1 rejoice in the Lord o ye righteous for praise is comely for the upright.

We have so many reasons to rejoice, For us he disrobed himself of his royal regalia . . . He wrapped himself up in a garment of humanity, and through forty and two generations he came to planet earth. Born of a virgin, born in a manger, wrapped up in swaddling clothes . . .
He saved us,
He loves us,
He forgives us,
He is good to us,
He paid the sin debt for us,
He is soon to come back for us.
The old folk use to say, he woke me up this morning and started me on my way . . . He put joy in my heart and clapping in my hands.

Some may doubt, some may pout, but I want to stay under the spout where the glory comes out.

The next thing we need to in order to create a can do attitude in a can't do atmosphere is pray. The apostle says that we should, be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. In other words, don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don't forget to thank him for his answers.

Give a testimony about God's answer to your prayers In this same verse the apostle says we need to learn how to be thankful Thank him, for his mercy, grace, blood, word, thank him for food, friends family, job, house of God, thank him for freedom. we have got so much to thank him for.

The next step in creating a can do attitude in the midst of a can't do atmosphere is that we need todo isour minds. As he brings his letter to the church at philippi to a close, he concludes by commanding them to think on the right things.

He says whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just whatsoever things are just whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely whatsoever things are a good report if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things.
These are the things we need to think on and clear our minds of gossip, and lies, and mess, and putting other folk down.

There would be so much more harmony and peace in our churches if we just learn to think on holy things, pure things, godly things, good things, right things.

Another thing we need todo if we are going to create a can do attitude in the midst of a can't do atmosphere is to give.

So many times we sit down at the table of discussion to further the kingdom of God on planet earth and we leave out our pocket books in the equation.

We want to have successful musicals without a giving attitude.
We want to have glorious church anniversaries without a giving attitude.
We want to have memorable pastors' anniversaries and leave with a giving attitude.
We want to be well known in the local, state and national conventions without a giving attitude.

Listen to how Paul describes this giving church at philippi "notwithstanding ye have well done that ye did communicated with my affliction. Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only."

The Living Bible Paraphrase puts it this way . . .
Phil 4:15-19
15 as you well know, when I first brought the gospel to you and then went on my way, leaving Macedonia, only you Philippians became my partners in giving and receiving. No other church did this.
16 even when I was over in Thessalonica you sent help twice.
17 but though I appreciate your gifts, what makes me happiest is the well-earned reward you will have because of your kindness.
18 at the moment I have all I need-- more than I need! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me when Epaphroditus came. They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that pleases God well.
19 and it is he who will supply all your needs from his riches in glory because of what Christ Jesus has done for us. (Tlb)
God's people was a help to the man of God Paul when he was in prison they prayed for him, they gave to Paul, they cared for him,
And finally, . . .

The last thing we need todo if we are going to be successful in creating a can do attitude in the midst of a can't do atmosphere is know the Source of supply.

My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
We serve a way making God. It does matter what your need is he will supply .
. .
He is a father for the fatherless
He is a mother for the motherless . . .
He is water when you are thirsty . . .
He is bread when you are hungry . . .
He is . . .
